Exhaustion -Daily Dose 4: When Your Body Starts Keeping Score

Body fatigue. Tight chest. Heavy shoulders. A body that feels worn down. Does this sound familiar to you? Anything that sounds like you?

You wake up tired.

Your muscles feel tight.

Before the day even starts… you feel exhausted.

Your jaw stays clenched without you noticing.

Your chest feels heavy — like there's a weight pressing down on you.

Like you carry something you just can't let go of.

And you tell yourself…

"It's just stress. It's just life.

I just need to keep going.

I'll catch up on my rest later."

But your body… right now… is no longer whispering to you.

It is screaming at you.

"Listen to me.

Hear what I'm saying.

See these warning signs I'm giving you."

These are not random.

These are not weaknesses.

These are definitely warning signs that we choose to ignore.

This is your body keeping score of every moment you stayed strong

when you were actually running on empty.

Of every time you said,

"I'm fine. I can do this. It's just a couple more hours."

When your body was quietly saying…

"But I'm so tired."

Because exhaustion doesn't just live in your thoughts…or even just in your muscles.

It settles into every part of your body —

from the hair on your head to the soles of your feet.

It settles into your muscles.

It settles into your nervous system.

It tightens your breathing.

It makes your bones feel heavy.

And suddenly…you feel like you're carrying weight you were never meant to carry.

And somewhere along the way… you stopped noticing the signals until your body made them louder.

And this wasn't to punish you… but to protect you.

Your body will fight for you…no matter what happens.

Your body is not betraying you.

It is trying to save you.

Today's step is simple.

Pause for one moment today.

Take the time to notice what your body is talking to you about.

Pay attention to what it's saying to you.

It's an intimate thing…if you would only listen…it is speaking to you.

Notice where you are holding tension.

Is it in your shoulders?

Is it in your chest?

Is it in the headaches you wake up with every day and go to bed with every night?

Is it tension in your jawline?

Do you grit your teeth?

Take one slow breath… and then another...

let your shoulders drop... just a little.

Not to fix everything…

just to hear what's being said.

To listen.

Because healing begins the moment you start listening to what your body is telling you.

And tonight…when your body feels heavy…

Come… sit with me awhile…
